The previous Saskatchewan Chess Association shut down in 2013. Almost every other province has a provincial chess body. These associations help provide support and formal organisation to clubs throughout the province.
We are looking into reopening this association! Our goals are to encourage new chess clubs and programs throughout the province, build scholastic programs, and develop interest in the game. This idea is still in its infancy, and nothing has been set in stone yet.
If you are interested in opening a chess club or program in Saskatchewan please contact us! We are actively seeking board members to represent cities across the province. We could use board members to represent Moose Jaw, Yorkton, and Swift Current.
Our Annual General Meeting took place on January 5, 2017.

Enjoy playing chess outdoors at the NE corner of Victoria Park Regina.
Everyone is welcome to come play. You can find us every Saturday throughout the summer, from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Eveyone has their own customs when it comes to the passing of a comrade. The English have funerals, the Irish have a Wake, the millitary has a 21 gun saloot, and chess players... well we have tournaments. The John McIntyre Memorial was held on April 11th 2015 at the University of Regina.

The Queen City Chess Club has launched a new Facebook page! You can join our page by simply liking it.
If you have any interesting chess related stuff, feel free to share it on our page!
With John's passing the chess club was left without a president to run it, or a venue to play at. However, with new management comes new ideas. Some of those ideas include a new website, name, Facebook page, venue, and hopefully some upcoming CFC rated tournaments!
We have changed our venue to the Riddell Center at the University of Regina, where we can play for free and attract plenty of new student members at the same time.
After some voting, the name of our club has been changed from "The Regina Chess Club" to "The Queen City Chess Club". We thought it best to start fresh.
With a new name comes a new look, so we have comepletely redone the old chess website (as you can see). The old regina chess site was built back in 2001, and was in desperate need of an update. This is a work in progress, and will be constantly updated for the next few weeks to sort out the bugs. At the moment, we're working on making our site more compatible with mobile devices.
This is an exciting and chaotic time for the club, but surprisingly - membership is increasing! More and more people seem to be showing up every week.
The Queen City Chess Club is attempting to merge with the University of Regina!
We hope to set up as an official varsity club. Right now we are petitioning for signatures from students, this is a requirement for application.
If you are a student at the University of Regina, and you would like to see a varsity chess club, you can email us, or simply show up to our regular Thursday meetings!
As many of you know, John was the founder and president of the Regina Chess Club. He passed away at the early age of 49 on January 6th, 2015.
John was not just the president however, he was also the tournament organizer, the web site operator, and the finance director. John basically ran every component of this club.
It was his dream to see this chess club grow, and to keep chess alive and well in the city of Regina.
The members of his club did not give up however; Brandin Titanich, Justin Kline, and Tom Boshoff, have taken over the many duties that John had. We plan to not only keep the club going, but to expand the chess club, and perhaps hold some major tournaments as well.
John was a good man and an amazing chess player, may he rest in peace.
Is over for another year ;( But, it was very successful and we even made it on CJME Radio AND Global TV
By all accounts it will return again next May, but, maybe, perhaps there might be some more chess downtown during the fall and winter... stay tuned
Ever wanted to know if someone (or anyone?) is coming to the chess club meeting this week? Or, perhaps who might me planning to attend a tournament?
Well, now you can easily find out! With our new and simple message board that shows the time and date and author of each message.
So, it will be extremely helpful to check in with the message board during the week and especially, the day of chess club or tournament day, and I strongly encourage people to make a simple and quick post saying they are coming or thinking of coming.
Others will see these posts, and hopefully, be more encouraged to come out and confident that there will be people to play chess with.
Additionally, people can post and simply ask is "so and so" is coming or "who is coming to chess?"
Bottom line is this is intended to provide more information to chess players and reduce the "I wonder if so and so (or anyone) is coming to play chess".
And remember, no profanity... even if it is about John ;)
The Regina Chess Club has been invited to participate in the Weekly GAMES NIGHT at Boston Pizza on North Albert Street, every Tuesday evening from 6pm til closing. This games night is sponsored by both Boston Pizza and the Saskatchewan Gamin Association www.saskgames.com J
This is an evening dedicated to playing board games - including chess! - and while there are people playing a multitude of various games, there is more than enough room and interested people for some chess. And, there is no cost to attend, play, or simply visit... you will likely have to pay for your beverage and snacks, but, you never know ;)
Some chess club members have attended and reported a great time and great atmosphere, so ENJOY!
The Club has some brand new shiny Triple Weighted chess sets (they wont blow over in the wind) and some bright, flashy, new chess boards with that "new car" smell, and a BIG THANK YOU goes out to Curtis Materi, whose generous donation made this happen.
So while we still have all the old reliable sedan chess sets, we can now take a shiny new sports car set out for a spin!
And, we'll NEVER run out of Queens!
The Regina Chess Club Lost Archives have been found!! The process of restoring them to the website is under way
Please check the Articles to see what has been added.
And most importantly... ENJOY!
